The idea
StoryMixer is a collaborative storytelling game. Each person secretly invents one part of the story. At the end, the game joins the answers into a single sentence. Nobody knows in advance who will do what, when or where.
How to play
- Choose a mode. Pick the five-question quick game or the seven-question full game.
- Answer your question. The first person writes a character, real or imaginary, and submits the answer.
- Pass the device. The next player sees the next question and writes an answer without discussing the earlier ones.
- Keep going. Be creative: unexpected and absurd answers are welcome.
- Reveal the story. After the final answer, StoryMixer combines everything into one sentence.
Quick game – five questions
Who? When? Where? With whom? What are they doing? Five answers make a quick, surprising story.
Full game – seven questions
Who? When? Where? With whom? How? What are they doing? Why? Two extra questions add even more strange twists.
Example
“An astronaut at midnight in grandma's kitchen with a talking cat secretly made pancakes because they lost a bet.”
That's only an example; your own story is created from your group's answers.
How many people?
Two people can play, but the game works with a larger group too. You only need a single phone, tablet or computer. One person can also answer all the questions.
What happens to the final story?
Use the browser's read-aloud function, share the text, or start another round. The optional AI-idea link opens a third-party website only after confirmation.
